FROM STAR WARS TO BANKSY: 'MAY THE ARTS BE WITH YOU' AT THE NEW LUCAS MUSEUM

The new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles is bringing together a wonderful catalogue of art, cinema, and pop-culture in one giant collection. Founded by the Star Wars creator George Lucas, and his wife, Mellody Hobson, the museum is scheduled to open later this month and will be featuring more than 1,200 works of narrative art.

Their myriad collection goes far beyond just Star Wars memorabilia, but it has worked to create a comprehensive collection spanning historic and contemporary works and including art works connected to figures such as Banksy, which are full of intrigue and increasing relevancy. The museum aims to explore not just how visual storytelling shapes the way people understand and identify with ideologies but also how they experience the world.

Before the official opening, the museum has offered a sneak peek to visitors of its expansive collection, setting itself as the new cultural landmark in LA where traditional fine art meets the imagery and stories of popular culture.
